The Big Game Hunt (1935/1952)
Description: Contains footage from the Johnsons' 1933-1934 Flying Safari, as used in two episodes of the 1952 TV series called Osa Johnson's Big Game Hunt. Early 20th century naturalists and explorers, Martin and Osa Johnson journey across Africa in 1935 in two amphibious airplanes, encountering and filming African natives and many forms of wildlife including lions, rhino, elephants, and especially a large population of baboons. A prime example of the type of popular, wildly exploitative travel film made in the US between 1920 and 1950.
